My past relationship left me in pieces and insecure about myself. It made me question my value and respect. I mean, how can someone you love disrespect you in so many ways and still say “I love you” while you forgive them and open your arms to them. If you say that is not love, I agree with you—- now. But during that time, I was blinded by love. After all, he was my first true love (or so i thought) and he only yelled and called me out of my name because I deserve it right … right? It was definitely an unhealthy relationship that helped me grow so much as a person. I learned that no matter the effort you put into a relationship- if the disrespect continues it is OVER. Of course many may argue but trust me once the respect is gone - love is gone too. So, now I’m continuing a new chapter in my life with me, myself and I. I can now gladly smile and say “Wow, this unhealthy relationship opened my eyes”. So, I stare at myself in the mirror and love the person who is there and I start to think, “Am I really insecure?” I respond out loud, “No, I’m not. It was a roller-coaster that tested my strength and it gave me a second opportunity”. I would never again question whether I am insecure or not. I am fragile but not broken. I love my ambitions and goals in life. I love how I think and the inspiration I provide to others. I love to enjoy myself with my girlfriends. I trust them more than family. I love the relationship I have with my mother, father and brother. And finally, I love myself.
